Pinewood Derby 2012
All Cub Scouts from each pack are qualified to advance to the Fox River District Pinewood Derby Finals, hosted by Pack 329 Silver Lake.
Date: Saturday April 21, 2012.
Location: Riverview Elementary School 300 E. Prosser St. Silver Lake WI (Just off Hwy B between Hwy 50 & Hwy C)
Check in & Weigh In: 10:30am-12:00pm
Race Time: 12:15pm

PRO MODIFIED RACE JUST ADDED. Open to all adults of qualified scouts. It’s time for the adults to have their own race and see what they can do. Pro Modified race rules apply.
Prizes will be awarded and concessions will be available.

ALL CARS MUST PASS INSPECTION TO QUALIFY FOR THE SCOUT & OPEN DIVISION RACE
Following are the inspection points for the Scout & Open Division Races.
1. The car weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces. The official race scale shall be considered final. The car may be hollowed out and built up to the maximum weight by the addition of wood or metal only, provided the material is securely built into the body or firmly affixed to it. No liquids or loose materials of any kind are permitted in or on the car.
2. The overall length of the car shall not exceed 7 inches.
3. The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 ¾ inches.
4. The car must have 1 ¾” clearance between the inside of the wheels.
5. The car must have 3/8” clearance underneath the body.
6. The wood provided in the kit must be used. The block may be shaped any way that is desired.
7. The wheels supplied with the kit must be used. You may NOT use the BSA colored wheels. The wheels may NOT be cut, drilled, beveled, shaved, sanded or rounded. It’s a scout RACE.
8. The axles supplied with the kit must be used. They may be polished or lubricated, The die marks may be removed by file and sand paper, however you cannot significantly reduce the size of the axel. Use of Lathe’s, Center grinders, and other work equipment is prohibited. It’s a scout RACE.
9. Axle slots in the car body must be used in the scouts race and you may NOT cover this axle slot. Axles must be able to be inspected and pulled if questioned.
10. Wheel bearings, washers or bushings are prohibited.
11. The car must not ride on any type of springs.
12. The car must be freewheeling, with no starting devices.
13. No loose material of any kind, such as lead shot, may be used.
Each car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it will be allowed to compete. The Inspection Committee has the responsibility to disqualify those cars that do not meet these specifications. After the inspection the cars will be given a number and held by the committee until the race begins.
PRO MODIFIED RACE DIVISION

Requirements
Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts may complete requirements in a family, den, pack, school, or community environment. Tiger Cubs must work with their parents or adult partners. Parents and partners do not earn loops or pins.
Belt Loop
Complete these three requirements:
Explain ways to protect yourself while roller skating or in-line skating, and the need for proper safety equipment.
Spend at least 30 minutes practicing the skills of roller skating or in-line skating.
Go skating with a family member or den for at least three hours. Chart your time.
Sports Pin
Earn the Roller Skating belt loop, and complete five of the following requirements:
Participate in a pack or community skating event.
Demonstrate how to disassemble and reassemble skates.
Explain the proper clothing for roller or in-line skating.
Spend at least 15 minutes, on two occasions, practicing warm up exercises before skating.
Play a game of roller hockey.
Learn and demonstrate two new roller skating skills: forward scissors, forward stroking, crossover, or squat skate.
Participate in a roller or inl-ine skating skill development clinic.
Demonstrate how to stop quickly and safely.
Demonstrate how to skate backward. Skate backward for five feet.
Play a game on roller skates, roller blades, or in-line skates.
Hello Everyone
As you all know we do a fund-rasier for the nature center the day after our haunted pack night. If you come back on Saturday between 7:00 and 9:00pm we will have the trails haunted by our local scouts. Its much scarier and more fun. This year the center is offing discounts for the hike as a thank you for all the scouting families that help them out.
